During the January 19 #solopr Twitter chat, independent PR pros discussed issues relating to project management, awards programs, and the opportunities in social media for finding work, speaking gigs, and more. Specifically, the following questions were addressed:
1. What tools do you use for group collaboration- not just conversation, but also a place to store documents or links?
2. Do you enter awards programs- why or why not? Do you include the client in entry decision or preparation?
3. In today's #solopr post, @3hatscomm shares an opp she got thru social media. What are your success stories?
Be sure to check out the transcript in PDF for all the excellent insight shared in this week's chat. As a PR pro, is there anything you'd like to add?
The #solopr chat – held each Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. Eastern – is a weekly ritual for some of the most savvy Solo PR Pros on Twitter. Anyone with a Twitter account is welcome to participate – see Join Us for the #solopr Chat on Twitter to find out how!
Thanks to Jennifer Spivak for compiling this post.
Hello Kelly,
I've been reading your blog and Twitter chats religiously for the past 5 months. I am hoping to go solo sometime in the near future and you (along with the rest of the community) have been an irreplaceable resource.
Today I was attempting to go through the latest Twitter transcript only to get a quarter way through and close the document.
I just can't do it anymore – it's becoming way too time consuming to digest relevant information. The chat is about 70% RTs and 30% useful info.
The chat transcript could use an editor looking at it prior to publishing.
Please do take this into consideration for the future, and keep up the absolutely amazing job you're doing.
Tim
P.S. – I'm actually a full-time editor employed at a Newswire service..and I would love to clean up your transcripts should you consider that such action needs to be implemented.
Feel free to give me a shout..
Hi Tim- glad to know you're out there, and thanks for your feedback. As we all know, people have different needs and preferences, and many people tell me they love having the full transcript posted in a timely manner, and available in PDF. In fact, just yesterday someone told me how useful they find having permanent records of our full conversation that they can save on their computer.
However, I'm going to give some thought to how we could perhaps call-out some highlights from the chat, to make it easier for those wanting to skim. Thanks again for weighing in.
That's a great idea, Kelly!
If the topic relevant lines were to be highlighted, it would make reading and finding useful information a much quicker process…
Thanks for the reply!
Tim
