Tech Tools We Love for Solo PR Pros

Apr 16, 2019 | Living the Life

We Solo PR Pros love any gadget, app, or tech tool that helps us to save time, stay organized, and better serve our clients. Here is a list of tools we are loving right now.

Otter.ai

We are always on the hunt for an audio transcription tool and we love Otter.ai. It allows you to create shareable transcriptions of audio files and is perfect for meeting notes, webinars, podcasts and more. An iOS and Android app is now available that allows for transcription of audio in real time.

O-transcribe

O-transcribe is another online transcription tool that allows you to upload audio and video files as well as YouTube links.

Toby

Our own Kami Huyse recently recommended this tool as a way to help tame our browser tabs. Think of it as if Trello and OneTab had a baby because it allows you to operate with fewer open tabs and organize your projects and apps, all on one screen. (Free and paid options available.)

Commit to 3

Create focus and increase productivity with this tool where you choose 3 tasks that you will complete each day. Create teams (work, friends, or family) for added accountability. (The web version is free; iPhone app is paid.)

Sweet Process

Thinking of bringing on a VA or another team member but not sure where to begin? Sweet Process allows you to document repetitive tasks so that you can see what work you can free up, eventually sharing with contractors or employees. This is the perfect tool to begin to capture your business systems. (Free trial)

Focus Booster

Focus Booster is a timer app that helps you manage distractions and improve your productivity using the Pomodoro technique. The paid levels add time and productivity tracking capabilities. (Free tier and free trial for paid tiers available.)

Sighted

Sighted is an online invoicing tool perfect for small businesses and solopreneurs. The free plan offers 20 invoices per month in multiple currencies, for up to 10 clients. It also allows you to track expenses and accept online payments.

Grammar Base

This tool will find the most glaring grammar mistakes, such as weak verbs, passive voice, and even punctuation and spelling mistakes. Chrome browser users experience an added ease by installing the Grammar Base extension.

DrumUp

Save time while you curate and share content with DrumUp. It allows you to build your feed by adding keywords (or phrases) related to the type of content you want to share. (Paid plans are based on quantity of social accounts and posts.)

InsideView

InsideView is a Salesforce app that is focused on social selling and sales intelligence, focusing on delivering the right message to the right person at the right time. This is achieved through analyzing the connections on your social networks and using special trigger events. (Free trial and then $99/month.)

Newspaper Map

Need to find an obscure placement? Newspaper Map allows you to find and translate online newspapers from all over the world.
