As solopreneurs, gritty determination and a steadfast dedication to our work are typically key factors in our success. However, it’s important to keep in mind that this nose-to-the-grindstone attitude can also be our downfall if left unchecked. This holiday season, giving yourself permission to have some downtime and recuperate – whether by going on a vacation or carving out a much needed break – will actually help you accomplish more in the long run.
The importance of taking time off cannot be overstated. There are many negative health effects from taxing yourself with overwork. In just one example, new research shows that working in a high stress job can increase one’s risk of having a stroke by 22% compared to those working in what are considered to be low stress jobs. And we all know that PR ranks at the top of the stress scale.
Self-care is vital for not only your health but also your ultimate success. It’s important to take time out from your hectic, fast-paced work life so you can rest, recuperate and — most importantly — re-energize, especially for the new year ahead.
As firm believers in the need for taking time off to rejuvenate, we here at Solo PR Pro will be taking a few days off over the holidays so we’re ready for 2016. Our offices will be closed December 24 – 25, 2015 and December 31, 2015 – January 1, 2016.
We’re looking forward to some exciting announcements planned for the coming year, and we wish you all a safe and happy holiday season!
