It is with heavy heart that I share the news that Solo PR Pro community member Dee Stewart (@DeeGospel on Twitter, also known by her pen name Miranda Parker) passed away Friday evening. Though she faced challenges with her heart health for years, Dee met them with such amazing courage and strength, this news is a huge shock to everyone who knew her.
From the beginning of Solo PR Pro, Dee has been a frequent and smart contributor to #solopr Twitter chats, a regular commenter, and someone who commands my utmost respect. An author, blogger, journalist, and PR pro, Dee didn’t sit on the sidelines thinking about things she’s like to do – she pursued life and her interests with gusto!
As a fellow Atlantan, I had the good fortune of seeing Dee in person at many events around town. She was the same online and off: kind and generous, freely sharing her uniquely savvy wisdom and advice – and, of course, that megawatt smile.
Dee lived her Christian faith every day, and leaves behind a young daughter, her beloved “girlie,” who was certainly the light of her life. A memorial fund is being established in Dee’s honor to benefit her – we’ll post an update as soon as we know the details.
Please join me in sending our thoughts and prayers to Dee’s family, and let’s take a moment to pause and appreciate each other in her memory.
Taking pause for a wonderful soul, person, and PR pro. Blessings and prayers to her family.
She was a very bright spark on our weekly #solopr chats. She will be missed. Vaya con Dios!
As I watched football games yesterday with the pink shoes, pink receivers’ gloves and little pink towels, I remarked to my husband that heart disease among women is far more deadly and less researched. Having never met Dee, I am still sad that she has left us and the PR community. We need to take care of each other… taking care of our hearts as well as our minds. Thanks for posting this.
How very tragic. Her family is in my thoughts.
I was an admirer for many years. The PR Princess tips her tiara in honor of Dee.
I am so, so sorry to hear this!
Thanks to all of you sharing your thoughts — I’ll be sharing them with Dee’s friends and family!
I am so saddened to hear this news. A great loss for our online PR community and all who knew her “IRL.” Prayers for her family.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to her Family!!!!
What a tragedy to lose someone so young and vibrant. I’m so sorry to read of her passing, but thank you for sharing.
There is so much jockeying for profile and back biting on the interwebs. But never, ever from Dee. She was a joy and delight to know. She made us all better and kinder people. I will truly miss her.
Thanks for posting this message. I was stunned to learn the news this weekend. I’d recently reconnected with Dee online through #blacklitchat and was hoping to finally meet her in person over coffee or lunch soon. From the few interactions I had with Dee online, I know she didn’t just promote herself, her causes or her clients; she was constantly adding value, lifting us up and making us better. I hope her good work, reflected in our remembrances, will be a comfort to her family during this time of loss.
I cried all weekend. Dee was a good friend who was such a shining light of what could be. She defied her health challenges by living fully and boldly and accomplished so much in her too short time on earth than most. Talented, gracious and loving, she will be sorely missed. She lives a legacy that challenges us all to live with purpose and joy. Thank you for honoring her.
Our prayers go out to Dee’s family and friends! I had only known her for a short time but she was such a blessing to my life!
I’ve been crying since I found out. Dee was a true PR Pro. She mentored so many of us in PR and in literature. She was a giver; the world would be a much better place if we all gave as half as much as she has given.
My prayers go out to Dee family and her daughter. Look to the hills whence cometh your help. It all comes from the Lord.
So sorry to hear of this. She will be missed
how very sad to hear the loss of someone who was so young still. I didnt know Dee but am saddened none-the-less at someone who seems to have been a light of her community. May she rest in peace and thoughts and prayer to her daughter and family.
She radiated in 140 character-long pulses. What a sweetheart and what a loss. I’m so saddened to hear this.
