In this week's episode of That Solo Life what did we decide to cover? Not working! Solo PR Pros work hard – and we love it – but we also need our down time, time to decompress and recharge. It’s essential if we’re going to stay at the top of our game.
The key to making the most of your guilty pleasures?
Be mindful
It might take work and extra focus at first but be present throughout the whole experience. If it’s a mid-day walk in the park, keep the cell phone in your pocket and put your mental to do list on pause. Take time to feel the sun and take in the fresh air. Even 15 minutes spent outside can help you become more productive for the rest of the day.
You Do You
One person’s waste of time is another person’s favorite activity. You know what’s right for you. Trust your instinct because most of the time your body and brain know what you need and are steering you toward it.
Make it a Habit
This might be the biggest challenge of all for us. Our work is so outward-focused, it can feel impossible to make sure we take time for ourselves. Try whatever “it” is for a week and we bet you’ll wonder how you ever survived without this new practice.
Guilty pleasures really aren’t something to feel guilty about. It’s self-care. You need it and you deserve it.
What helps you recharge? “Brain candy” TV like The Real Housewives? Naps? Taking a break to read a novel? A visit to the gym? We want to know. Tell us in the comments.
