Solo PR FPRA 2016 Conference Recap

Aug 16, 2016 | Living the Life

Last week some of the members of the Solo PR PRO community joined us in Tampa Bay, Florida for our main event of 2016. As we did last year we joined forces with the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) for a robust conference experience that included a variety of learning opportunities and plenty of face time with Solo PR colleagues.
As independent pros, professional development is vital to keeping our skill sets fresh. The Solo PR Pro main event offered plenty of learning opportunities and allowed independents to share and interact with colleagues who are independent, employed and in a wide range of industries. As an added bonus, it all took place at a luxury golf resort, home to the famous Copperhead course, a favorite among PGA Tour professionals.

Cheers to another great conference where the Solo PR community learned, laughed, and broke bread together. It was amazing to share with one another and our fellow attendees at the 2016  Florida Public Relations Association Conference in Tampa Bay, Florida!

Conference highlights

As in previous years, there was an impressive line-up of sought after speakers, including many members of our own Solo PR community. If you couldn’t attend the conference in person, check out these summaries of sessions of particular interest to Solo PR Pros.

  • SoloPR Ask the ExpertsWorkshop– Communications consultants panel featuring Kellye Crane, Lanette Hart, APR, CPRC and Karen Swim, APR
This was an interactive workshop where the experts broke into 3 zones – Taking the Plunge, New Business/Fees and PR Skills / Client Management- so there was no presentation. Workshop participants moved around the zones to ask the experts questions. New, intermediate and seasoned independent pros were able to ask specific questions, get help managing real-time issues and challenges and gain feedback on strategies.
